LCC Library

Library Makerspace

The Library Makerspace is a place to be creative and explore making!

Mission of the Library Makerspace

The Library Makerspace is a community space within the LCC Library that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and access to technology. This is achieved through programming and events that increase student access to materials and technologies regardless of degree plan, fostering extracurricular innovation, and engaging students to think critically and creatively and in a non-structured collaborative setting. The Makerspace’s mission is inspired by DIY ethos and social justice.

All current LCC students, staff and faculty are welcome to use the Library Makerspace and its equipment. Community users may visit the Makerspace under the supervision of Library staff.

Hours - Closed until further notice

The Library Makerspace is currently closed due to the public health crisis. We look forward to making with you in the future!!

Expectations for makers

The expectations listed below are for the safety and benefit of Library Makerspace users. Users found to be negligent of these expectations may be asked to leave the Makerspace and/or banned from using equipment.

Please help us keep the Library Makerspace tidy and operational!

Cleanliness - Users will leave the Makerspace as clean, or cleaner, than they found it. All items should be returned to their proper storage locations, and the workspace should be free of debris. Students are responsible for taking all their belongings with them when they leave, any and all items left behind in the Makerspace will be given to Public Safety for safekeeping. There is no food or drink allowed in the Makerspace.

Timeliness - Users are responsible for wrapping up their projects in a timely fashion. If there are other students with reservations, or the Makerspace is closing, additional time will not be given to complete projects. Please plan accordingly!

Helpfulness - We need your help maintaining the Makerspace. Users will inform staff if supplies are running low, or if any equipment is in need of repair.

Safety in the Makerspace

Safety is important for all Library Makerspace users!

Users should be aware of the location of the first aid kit, fire extinguisher and other safety equipment

Projects should not be left unattended, if another student leaves the Makerspace while their equipment is still in use, please let the Student Help Desk know.

Users are responsible for reviewing proper use instructions, and safety information, for each piece of equipment prior to beginning their projects.
