Dental Professions Library Guide

A guide for Dental Professions students at LCC, featuring resources and services available at the LCC Library.

Online APA Style Guide

APA (American Psychological Association) is most commonly used to cite sources within the health sciences and social sciences fields.

Why should I cite my sources?

  • to demonstrate you have considered others' research
  • to direct readers to additional information
  • to establish credibility as a careful researcher
  • to show professional honesty and courtesy

Visit the Library's Citation Guides.

Creating your References page

Your References page should be in alphabetical order by author's last name.  If a work you are citing doesn't have an author, alphabetize by the first word in the article.

Double space your list of References (just like the rest of your paper).  Begin each new reference flush to the left of the page, but indent the second, third, fourth, etc. lines of each reference.

The APA shows a complete sample paper, including the list of References, here. (References begin on page 6 of the pdf.)

An APA Citation handout is available at the Library Research Help desk.
