12:30 - 2:30 p.m. — CREATIVE GATHERING  Imagining Futures

Has reading A Psalm for the Wild-Built and participating in the Common Read program inspired you to imagine and create? Do you want to witness others’ creative visions? If so, then you are invited to…

Imagine the future you hope to see.

Create your vision in a story, a poem, an essay, a song, a performance, digital art, sculpture, or any other form that inspires you.

Then… share your vision!

On Thursday, April 24, we will gather in CEN 211 (the big space north of J&J Java coffee shop) to share our visions of possible futures (and to eat snacks!). Each writer / artist / performer will have up to 5 minutes to share their work. Art can be displayed digitally or on site. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, whether you share or not!

Sign up to share your vision here.

Hosted by LCC’s Writing and Literature Department, in partnership with the Common Read program.

3 - 4:30 PM — AUTHOR TALK  The Future Is Always Fiction

What good is fantasy, when the real world requires action? Does art exist apart from science, or are they perfect complements? Is escapism irresponsible in times like these, or can it be used as a tool for restoration? Join A Psalm for the Wild-Built author Becky Chambers for a talk on the powerful, sometimes subversive act of imagining hopeful futures in the midst of a world in crisis.
Add the presentation with Becky Chambers to your Google calendar.

Unable to attend in person? Becky's talk will be live streamed. A link to attend is in the calendar invite.
